My sweet little girls turned 2 today. I can't believe how fast these two years have gone. They had a great day. Grandma Gibby got them purple coats that they LOVE and wore the whole party. Grandma Beckwith got them some beautiful dresses, shoes, books and little beanie babies which they insisted on sleeping with. We didn't get the greatest pictures, hopefully we can get

G&G's pics that they took. I made them monkey cupcakes for their birthday cake, I thought it fit their personalities. They recently learned how to climb out of their cribs which I thought was the end of my sanity until John screwed a strip of wood on the top of their rail. A total man solution but it worked! They definitely keep me busy!

I figured I better post about Ty's birthday since the girl's is coming up in a few weeks. He's really into robots and anything that has to do with science. He loves his microscope and loves to find things to look at under it. Unfortunately that means I have found large dead insects, dried up leaves and tubes of strange liquid in his bedroom. We had to have a talk about that. He also completed his wolf and is now a bear. Or maybe it's the other way around. I still don't get cub scouts.

Our TEN year anniversary/ my 30th birthday

We decided to actually do something for our anniversary this year since it was the big ten and all. My amazing parents drove all the way up to Spokane to watch our kids for us. John and I got to be gone for an entire 3 days. It was wonderful, a much much needed break. The first think we did when we got to Seattle was to go to the space needle. I wasn't nervous about the height until we got up there and then I couldn't wait to get down!

Our next stop was the pacific science museum. The boys would have loved it! There were so many awesome things to see. We spent a lot of time in the insect area to get some pictures for the boys.

One of the main reasons John wanted to go to Seattle was to visit Ivars to get fresh fish and chips. He said there was just something about eating it right on the dock. This is a picture of Ivars from a ferry tour we took. On this tour we swear there were terrorists on our boat. A story for another time.
We also went to the Experience Music Project. They has a big Avatar exhibit. These are the shoes.
Guitars. I didn't put many pics from there on here. It was mostly Aerosmith memorabilia which was cool but you can only see so many old t-shirt and album covers.
The Curiosity Shop. A store full of crazy crazy things. Like mummies.

The Seattle Aquarium.

Pikes Place Market. SO SO SO many people!!
Our second day we took a ferry to brainbridge island and drove around. We found this little beach that we had all to ourselves. There were tons of seashells, crabs and what not. What I liked the most was that it was quiet. So quiet. I also could enjoy it and not have to worry about any kids getting wet or lost. sigh.

It was a great trip with lots of great memories. I can't believe it's been ten years already!! I'm just so grateful I picked such a great guy!!

My Sanity

I have always held the strongest belief that one cannot be losing their mind if they are consciously aware that they are doing so. For example, there have been several times during heightened kid fiascos that I have seriously thought to myself, "I am going crazy, I really think I am" but then I reassure myself with this belief that if I was indeed going crazy I would probably just slip into some crazed induced oblivion never to be aware of it. However, I believe my opinion has changed on the matter. Take my morning for instance. It started off innocently enough with banana pancakes, the boys teasing each other to tears and the girls screaming for their cuppies. After everyone had either stuffed their bellies with pancakes or thrown them on the floor, I load everyone up to take Ty to summer camp, a 45 minute trip. I come home and finally hang up the boys clothes which have been piling up for weeks. Finishing that I come upstairs to find that the girls have opened every package of pasta we have and have made a mosaic on the floor. Lovely. I clean it up and head to the girls room to fold laundry. As I do I realize that in my rush to get it all washed, I had failed to remove the numerous stains from their clothes ( you would think I had 2 monkeys rather then 2 girls!) Now their clothes are ruined. Oh well. I fold all the clothes, go to open the dresser and turn in time to see clothes flying through the air. Now I get to do it all over again. Accomplishing that I turn my attention to Connor who has just come into the house soaked and dripping water. His reason for being drenched? The grass was stinky and needed to be washed. I then look at the clock and see it's only 10:00 am. It was at this moment when I looked around and realized I still had a sink full of dishes, more piles of laundry to fold and oh look, someone dug through the garbage and scattered it everywhere and SOMEONE has definitely pooped!! I thought "I am losing my mind, I am for sure going crazy" It was then that I decided one can most definitely go crazy and know that they are doing so. In fact if that's that way I lose my sanity I prefer to be aware of it. That way I can warn poor John in advance. Maybe someday my sanity will return, most likely when the kids are grown and gone. But then I'd probably be bored out of my mind.....

Boys Night Out

John and his parents took the boys to a friends farm one night last week. It was a little boy heaven. There was a lake to fish in, a barn full of hay bales, chickens, horses, peacocks and he was a rock collector (which Ty is really into right now). I'm so glad they got to go and have so much fun even though they were very stinky when they came home.

The girls are 18 months now and as active as ever! They keep right up with the boys and don't let anything get in their way. I feel like I spend the whole day pulling them off counters and off of chairs, out of closets and the toilet (when will that EVER get old for them?) They went in for their 18 month checkup and I was so embarrassed of their scraped up knees and legs. They LOVE being outside. Lily likes the trampoline while Ella prefers the dirt and trucks. One thing they both love now is having their toenails painted. It's so fun to have girls! And I'm so glad they have each other. They're talking a ton and it will be no time before they can really tell me what their brothers did to them! I feel like they're growing up too fast! However I don't think i would go back to those newborn days for anything!

Ryen recieved the Character Counts award for Citizenship at school. He was SO excited! He had been to 2 of Tyler's and it was his turn! He received a t-shirt and a certificate. Of course being John's son he needed a silly face picture too.

My Two Monkeys

These two girls are giving us a run for our money. I don't remember the boys getting into half the trouble that they do. Ella is like an ant and can carry 5x her own weight. She is the strongest little girl and man can she eat. She out eats Connor and if we're not watching she steals Lily's food off her tray. She climbs on everything. Chairs, tables, she'll even grab the oven door handle do a pull up on it and bring it to the floor. Lily is her quiet accomplice. Ella creates a distraction and Lily will quietly sneak in and get whatever they were after. I've found them in piles of sugar and flour, playing in the toilet, covered in peanut butter, you name it. They exhaust me.

Ty's First Pinewood Derby

Tyler was so excited for the Pinewood Derby. He came up with the design all on his own and he and John spent a lot of time sanding it and painting. He came in 4th overall but he won 1st in one of the backward races which he was really happy about. And yes he looks very disheveled in the pics but he had group therapy RIGHT before and he had to get dressed in the truck. He can't wait for next year!

I'm finally getting around to Christmas pictures. We had a great Christmas just lounging around the house eating good food. The kids had a lot of fun. It was a lot different then last year, I was so sleep deprived I really don't remember it!!

I made stockings this year. They didn't really turn out how I wanted them to but I finished them. It was a big project.

Now just to warn you there are A LOT of pictures so hang in there. The girls had a ton of fun at their party. They weren't too excited about the presents (their brothers opened them) but they LOVED the cake. In this picture Lily is on the left and Ella on the right. But in all the rest they're the other way around. Ella had the purple cake and Lily the pink. Thank you so much to Grandma B and Aunt Amber for the super cute clothes. I can't wait to put them on the girls! And thank you Grandma G for the amazing cross stitch.

The girls are getting more and more fun every day. They are 11 months now, I can't believe it!! Ella is walking all over the place and getting into EVERYTHING! She is very independent and loves to play with her brothers. Lily on the other hand is a total momma's girl. She follows me around everywhere I go and she throws a fit when I'm holding one of the other kids. She isn't walking quite yet but she can shake her head yes or no and can say a few words. They each have their own strengths. We're so glad they're in our family and their brothers adore them. Well, Tyler and Ryen do.

For the ward party Ryen was dracula Connor a giraffe and the girls were ballerinas. Ty was in Wenatchee.

On Halloween night we decided to try and trick John's sister Loni who lives across the street. We dressed up Ryen like a little girl and had him go trick or treating at their house. When she answered the door John jumped out and grabbed her. Isn't he just so handsome?

Carving Pumpkins

John got tickets to the Spokane Indians game from work through Radio Spokane. They hosted an event that included dinner, $20 in Indian bucks and prizes. The boys gorged themselves on hot dogs, pop, cotton candy, elephant ears, ice cream sandwiches and nachos. Treats they never get to have. We got a baby sitter for the twins and it was so nice to go on an outing with just the boys. It was chilly but they had fun although we only made it to the 7th inning, barely.

Camping with 5 kids under 7, are we crazy?

We arrived at priest lake Friday morning. I was very hesitant about taking all the kids camping and almost stayed home with the girls at the last minute. The kids had a lot of fun. Tyler was very impatient about getting into the water.
My fearless divers. The boys have been jumping from the boat since they were little.

John's dad brought along his windsurfers and the boys loved them!! They both tried to stand up and "surf". They did pretty good.

Connor was happy playing on the beach without brothers or babies bothering him!

The girls slept the all Friday afternoon while we were in the water which was nice. Saturday however, they were confined to the play pen and they were not happy about it!! They crawl now and like to be able to get around. We had to cut our time at the beach short that day.

Smores. Ahhh smores. John's mom found these giant marshmallows and the boys were in heaven.

As soon as we got home the boys got an ice cream. We were exhausted (lily and connor were up the ENTIRE night) the boys smelled but we still had fun.

Discovery at the park

While at the park the other day we discovered that the girls could share a swing and hold each
other up. They LOVE to swing, they laugh and laugh. Swinging is Connor's favorite too so we tend to take the swings over when we go to the park.

Our Summer Full of Baseball

This summer the boys played baseball. They were on separate teams, Tyler was on the Red Sox and Ryen on the White Sox. We had games every Tues., Wed. and Thur. night. By the end of the season we were SOO done with baseball!! Next month they start soccer.

And this is what we did during the games. Poor Connor was pretty bored!!

We stopped at Melissa and Eric's on the way home from Nv. The kids were glad to get out of the car and play with their cousins. They made us a scrumptious curry dinner and since it was my birthday, a yummy cake, thanks guys!!

Our get away to St. George

My parents were wonderful enough to watch all 5 kids so that John and I could get a little mini vacation in our vacation. We went to St. George for 2 days. While we were there, we went to Zions National Park and hiked the Emerald Pools. It took about three hours and it was amazing!! The pictures don't do the place justice. It was so nice to get away for a little while!! We even went to 2 movies!! We were both a little sad to go back. Thanks mom and dad!!

These are the charcoal ovens where long ago they would burn piles of wood for 5 days until it turned into charcoal. Or something like that. People refer to them as the coke ovens. When Tyler heard this he wanted to know why we were going to the pepsi heaters.

I celebrated my 29th birthday while we were in Ely and John made me this scrumptious cake. It was so yummy!!

We also got too celebrate the 24th of July with fireworks. It was Connor's first time seeing them. He was scared but enjoyed them as long as he was on my. lap
Mt sister bought all the kids light sticks. I think they liked those more then the fireworks!!
The long drive home. I am so glad that drive is over. Two full days in the car each way about did me in. I was ready to jump out and start hitch hiking in the opposite direction!

No this isn't one of those cute, food all over the face, pictures. Lily's diaper exploded during naptime and she rolled around in poop for quite some time before it was discovered. Poop everywhere!! She was not happy about it and neither was John. He was the one who picked her up without realizing what had happened first. He also was covered in poop.

The Great Turkey Hunter

John has recently picked up bow hunting as a hobby. He has been wanting to go turkey hunting for a really long time and when his parents told him they had turkeys going through their property, he was there with his bow as soon as he could be. Unfortunately he only grazed a turkey and sent his feathers flying. Better luck next time!!

The Great Sailing Adventure

In March John, his dad, Tyler and Ryen went on an overnight sailing trip. The wind was insane and they had few close calls with the boat. I'm glad I wasn't there!! But they all had so much fun.

Tyler loves to shoot his BB gun. John let him shoot into the water. He loved it!

In the morning the boys went for a little hike. They were freezing!!

Of course they had to spend some time throwing rocks in the water. Boys will be boys!!

Connor turned 2 on April 14th. His favorite snack is Goldfish crackers so that is what he got for a cake!

A Very Crappy Morning (quite literally)

I know it's been a very long time since I have posted anything. Our router bit the dust and all our pics are on our laptop. I just haven't had the time to put them on this one. So I figured I would just blog about my morning. It was a doosy. I was up all night with the babies, like always, and I just couldn't get out of bed this morning. All the boys were up and Tyler usually gets them all breakfast, not really because he likes to help but because he likes to eat and that's the quickest way. Finally at 8:00 I drag myself out of bed and get in the shower. I had to get Tyler and Ryen ready for school, help Tyler pack his lunch, get all 3 little ones changed, dressed and get bottles for the girls. I started with Ella. She had pooped which I got cleaned up and got her dressed. As I was doing this I thought, hmm, Lily hasn't pooped in a really long time, I wonder if she's constipated? I finished with Ella and moved on to Lily. She had quite a surprise for me. She managed to pee and poop through her diaper, onesie, sleeper, blanket, sheet, mattress pad and all over her mattress. About this time Tyler was getting anxious about leaving so I told him he had to make his own lunch. We had 5 minutes till we had to be out the door. I had no choice but to give Lily a bath which I did while interrupting Ryen in the bathroom doing his business. I was getting Lily dressed and told Tyler to get Connor's PJs off so I could get him dressed next. All I heard was, oh gross. Connor managed to also pee and poop through his diaper, onesie and PJs. So at the time we were supposed to be walking out the door, Connor was getting a shower while Tyler and Ryen fed the girls in their car seats. We finally got out the door 6 minutes late. I never did find out what Tyler packed in his lunch. Today was Ryen's last day of preschool and I felt bad he was late. Yesterday while at the store I was in a hurry, like always, and swung the side door to the van open completely taking out Ryen who was standing behind me. I thought he was going to pass out. His forehead looks awful. He has a huge bump that's all purple and a dark blue line running down it from the door. So today we were almost to his school when he asks me if his bump has gone down. I told him it hasn't and he says, "Oh good, I can't wait to tell my class how you hit me in the head with the door!" He has gone to school with so many bumps on his head and every time his teacher comes out and asks me how it happened. I'm sure I'll get to have a conversation with her today when I go pick him up. At least today's the last day I'll have to see her. So that was my morning. Now to tackle the mounds of laundry, piles of dishes and try to get rid of the wonderful urine and poop stench that now fills our house. I need a vacation!!

I helped John last night sand the mud in the basement. Yuck. He got the worst of it because I made him do the ceiling. I think there is a nice layer of mud in our lungs now and my hair will never be the same.

Ryen's 5th Birthday

The night before his birthday, I told him that I was saying goodnight to my 4 year old for the very last time. He said don't worry I'll be here in the morning. He claimed that he didn't turn 5 until he blew his candles out. So this is Ryen turning 5.
Ryen thought this card from Aunt Loni and Uncle Will was hilarious. It said,"I bet you weren't expecting a paper pickle for your birthday". It cracked him up.

This superhero cake was about the death of me. It took me all night and didn't turn out how I wanted it to. Oh well, Ryen liked it.

Strange Happenings at IHOP

So a few weeks ago I got a coupon in the mail for IHOP. It was a pretty good one and the thought of not having to cook was so appealing I didn't even think twice about taking all 7 of us. John however needed more convincing, a week more. Finally last night he consented to go although not very happily. So we get there and of course its like the circus arrived, although I think the kids did very well. Our waitress was great and couldn't get over the twins and called the manager over to see them. He said something like oh cute and left. A few minutes later he came back and said "I never do this but my wife does photography and she's been wanting to photograph twins for her portfolio. It would be completely free and at the end you would get a copy of the cd to do with what you want." So we said great and got her info. A few minutes later the wife came in and introduced herself and said the same thing and gave us her business card. Now about this time I was thinking, ok lady who's husband works at IHOP just how good are you? I checked out her website and she's awesome!! She even has her own studio. I'm really excited to get some great pics of the girls and even more excited they'll be free! So in the end we got a yummy meal for cheap, potentially awesome pics of the girls and I proved to John that we could still function like a normal family and go out to eat.

The Ry Guy

I just realized I posted something about all my kids but Rizy. We can't leave him out. Ryen's b-day is on Monday and he's very excited about it because he gets to register for kindergarten on the same day. It's hard to believe he'll be in school but I'm also relieved! Ryen is one-of-a-kind. Anyone who knows him knows what I'm talking about. The kid is nuts!! His favorite things are computer games,movies and music. He loves to sing. He can hear a song once and have it memorized. He loves to sing songs from the movies he watches. I listened to his rendition of the Davey Crockett song for three weeks. Now we're on to the song from Hercules...I can go the distance or something like that. I need to get him to watch Mamma Mia.

Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place

Ah, Connor. You gotta feel sorry for the guy. He has two older brothers who tell him he's too little to do anything and he has two younger sisters who make it impossible for him to be a baby anymore. What's a guy to do? He's handling it very well, for the most part. I try to spend as much time as possible with him. Right now he's really into this book from the 80's called The First 100 Words. It has silly pictures of a family doing all sorts of activities together. He carries it with him where ever he goes. He still has his binkie or "bebe". He loves to suck on it while rubbing his ear. He also loves to play with "Ty-Ty" and "Wyen" when they let him and he insists on getting to hold the babies throughout the day. He does try to sit in their swings and snatch their binkies and hide them and he is in to everything you could possibly imagine such as the toilet, the sink, the knives, the microwave, the garbage, dad's tools, the cupboards... he is harder then the twins right now. But we love him and need him right where he's at, in the middle of it all.

Lily is our chunky monkey weighing in at almost 12 lbs today(11 wks). She is an awesome baby. Both girls sleep from 7-7 waking up only once at 3:30 to eat(hopefully I didn't just jinx us!) Lily always has a smile ready and has started laughing. She loves to laugh at the boys and they love to entertain her. She is such a happy baby. Her nicknames are Lil and the Lilinator due to her size over Ella(we might have to change that one later on). She is so much fun and we love her!!

Pretty Little Ella

Ella is the smallest of the two weighing a pound less then Lily. She is a great baby, loves to smile and is an amazing sleeper(most of the time). There isn't really a big difference in their personalities yet, they're both such sweet easy going babies. But Ella is a little more quieter then Lily, a little more calm and she has always had a more petite look to her. She is usually dressed in purple to help the boys tell them apart(Lily in pink). Her nicknames are Ella Bell and El. We just love her and can't wait to see her personality develop!

My Big Helper

Tyler has proven himself to be a huge help with the babies lately. At first he didn't like to hold them for more then 20 seconds. He told me, "Mom I just don't feel confident holding a baby." Then one day I handed him one of the babies while he was standing next to me and told him to go give her to dad. It must have had to do with walking with a baby like mom and dad but he suddenly found his "confidence". Now he loves to hold the babies and when John's gone at night he'll help me get them ready for bed by holding and feeding one while I get the other one dressed and fed. He'll even put her over his shoulder and burp her!! By the way in this picture he's holding Ella.

I discovered these two up to their elbows and shoulders (connor) in cold sudsy water today washing dishes together. I'm not sure how clean the dishes actually got but I am grateful for the help. However we did have to have a chat about not touching the sharp knives (which you can see in the picture) and not leaving the water running with the stopper in the sink which resulted in a small flood. I wonder if they do floors?

John and I decided it would be nice to celebrate Valentines day at home since going out would mean 3 babysitters. So together we made this meal of barbecue ribs, bacon wrapped shrimp, garlic red potatoes, steamed broccoli and sparkling apple cider. We were also supposed to have strawberry shortcake for dessert but we were just to full to make it. The best part was that we waited till all the kids were in bed before we ate. Aahhh...a quite meal. One of the best valentine days ever!!

April Fools Day

Anyone who knows us knows our boys LOVE dessert. Even though we don't have dessert every night Tyler always asks for it and it's usually the only way we can get Ryen to eat his dinner. So when I saw this idea in the newspaper I knew I had to try it on the boys. The "hamburger" in the picture is really made out of cake for the "bun" and brownie for the "meat". I told the boys I had a great treat for them and when I pulled out the "hamburgers" I told them that since we just had soup for dinner I thought they would want something else. Tyler was disgusted it wasn't a real dessert, Ryen was appalled and John couldn't figure out what was going on. I put the "hamburgers" down and to my surprise the boys started eating them!! Tyler was half way through his first bite when he realized something was different. He said "wait, it's chocolate!". poor Ryen was eating his but he still had no idea what was going on. They thought it was really funny. The article in the paper also suggested red and yellow frosting, kiwi slices for "pickles" and sugar cookie "fries"

Tyler Gets A Job

Yesterday John forgot his wallet, so being the wonderful wife I am, I packed the kids in the car and drove the 30 minutes to his work to give it to him. When it was time to leave, Tyler asked if he could stay and "work". John thought it would be a great idea although I was skeptical Tyler could sit there for five hours. I called to see how it was going a few hours later and talked to Tyler, he told me he was very busy. He had a meeting with Grandpa, had done a lot of calculations and was busy on the computer. John told me when it was time to go home Tyler didn't want to leave because he was so "busy" writing in a notebook things that just "had to get done before he could leave". I really didn't think a 6 year old would have fun at the office but Tyler loved it!!

Our ward had a primary talent show last Friday. Ryen was so excited and planned on singing I am a Child of God, which he does very well. We get there and he's still excited until he gets up on stage. It was more of a Child of God rap since he just spoke the words. But I am very proud of him for getting up there. His sunbeam class also sang Jesus Wants Me For A Sunbeam which is why he has a sun. Tyler decided to watch from the audience.

This is Connor's first time actually playing outside. He was too little the last time it was warm. He liked sitting in the car as long as it was still. Tyler tried pushing him around in it but Connor kept slipping out of the seat and getting run over. Then Connor and Tyler sat on the grass while Tyler explained all about "nature" to him.

We got tired of waiting for warm weather and broke out the 4 wheelers anyway. Ryen rode until his hands were so frozen he could barely bend his fingers!! I'm sure our neighbors loved the wheeeee of the 4 wheelers. Pretty annoying but well worth it if it keeps them entertained!!

For Ryen's birthday we hired John's friend Corey Jenkins to come and perform his children's music and do his juggling. We also had a pinata. Everyone had a lot of fun. I can't believe my little boy is four already! He is growing up so fast. He thinks that since he is four he can pick up anything. He tried to pick up the grocery cart at the store the other day!
